Jesus is the eternal, one-of-a-kind Son of God, who humbled himself and became human like us. Jesus showed us what God is like, because he is the spitting image of the invisible God, the exact imprint of his Father’s nature and the brightness of his Father’s beauty.
While here on earth, Jesus lived a perfectly obedient life, always honoring his Father’s will. Then Jesus willingly laid down his life on a cross, dying in the place of sinners like us. And then, three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, conquering sin and death. At this very moment, Jesus reigns as King over every square inch of this universe, waiting for his Father to send him to earth a second time in order to gather to himself those who believe in him and to judge those who have rejected him.
This Jesus is the focal point of our worship and the one we are destined to become like. This Jesus is the satisfier of our souls, our light in darkness, our joy in trials, our comfort in affliction, our truth in a world filled with lies. And though we have not seen him physically, we love him, we trust him, and we enjoy the presence of his Spirit in our lives and eagerly wait for his physical return.
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
